TunnelLING
Quantum Resolution has provided senior quantity surveying and commercial services on a number of significant tunnelling projects across rail, underground and water infrastructure, including:
- Crossrail Eastern Running Tunnels (Contract C305) — A 10km twin-bore drive delivered under an NEC3 target-cost contract, through deep and geologically demanding ground requiring careful management of subterranean risk and tunnel-boring-machine modifications.
- Kings Cross Tunnel — Three new tunnels linking the Piccadilly, Northern and Victoria lines to the new Northern Ticket Hall, including a new hub shaft and tunnelled passageways that improved step-free access — delivered deep beneath one of London’s busiest interchanges.
- Stoke Newington Ring Main Tunnel — A major water-supply tunnel forming part of Thames Water’s strategic ring main network, delivered under NEC contract terms.
Our services included:
- Contract Administration of NEC2 and NEC3 contracts, including target-cost (Option C), with full ownership of margin and entitlement
- Preparation and evaluation of cost reports, forecasts and earned-value reporting
- Strategic management of change and claims through to final-account negotiation and settlement
- Identification, development and substantiation of compensation events and variations to secure full contractual entitlement
- Rigorous cost and value control: forecasting, earned-value analysis and commercial reporting to drive decisions
- End-to-end management of the subcontract supply chain, from procurement and payment to final-account agreement
